Public speaking scheme

What happens at a planning committee meeting

Planning applications where someone wants to speak will be considered first. Each speaker will be invited to address the meeting for no longer than three minutes. Applicants, agents and supporters are also allowed a total of three minutes to speak.

You will not be allowed to distribute any material at the meeting. If you want to send in more information it should be sent to the Head of Member Services, ideally no later than the day before the meeting.

Planning officers may make comments on the points raised by speakers, and then the committee members will discuss the application and decide whether or not to grant permission. Occasionally, applications are deferred to enable the committee to find out more information.
