Subscribe to the green waste collection service
Most houses and flats with their own individual gardens can subscribe to the green waste collection service. There is an annual fee. The Council will supply you with a green 240-litre wheeled bin which will be collected every two weeks, except for once over the Christmas holiday period.
The subscription runs from 1 April to 31 March each year and the online subscription form is available between February and November. The annual service fee is set by the Council, this applies in full even for partial use of the service i.e. there are no partial refunds for taking out the service subscription, or cancelling the service part way through the year.
Residents can now subscribe for the 2023/24 service, which begins on April 1, and the charge is:
- £46 for a Direct Debit subscription
- £50 for a one-off debit or credit card payment.

Green wheeled bins displaying a valid, current service sticker on the lid of the bin will be emptied fortnightly with the exception of a two week period over Christmas and New Year. This period will be detailed on the back of the letter sent out with the service sticker.
Scheduled collection dates can be found here. Green waste bins should be put out for collection on the property boundary (or other agreed collection point) no earlier than 7.30pm on the evening before the collection day, and no later than 6am on the morning of collection.
Once payment has been received, you will receive a sticker in the post which you must attach to the lid of your green bin in order for collections to start. You should contact the Council if you need additional green bins.

Renewing your annual subscription
If you have subscribed to green waste collections by Direct Debit your annual subscription will automatically renew unless you cancel your Direct Debit with the Council and your bank or building society. The Council will write to you at least 10 days before the payment is taken for the new service year.
If you have made a debit or credit card payment, your service will end at the end of March and you will need to re-subscribe if you would like green waste collections to continue from 1 April.
