Births, deaths and marriages

Through the Hertfordshire County Council website, you can find how to register births, deaths, weddings and civil partnerships.

You will get guidance on when, where to register a birth, who needs to do it and how the process works.

For weddings you will find expanded advice on the steps of choosing your venue including the locations of your local registry offices, booking the venue and registrars, what it means give notice of marriage and how to carry that out.

You will also find advice for giving notice of a civil partnership, and the documents you will need to do so.

Through the HCC website, you can also request a copy of a birth certificate, copy of a marriage or civil partnership certificate, copy of a death certificate.

Other ceremonies handled by the County Council include citizenship ceremonies, change of deed services, renewal of vows, and civil namings - which are non-religious alternatives to a Christening.
