Services from Hertfordshire County Council

Children's social care and child protection

Hertfordshire County Council offers support via Families First, a group of services that work together to support families who need extra help.

Through the HCC website you will also find information about the Hertfordshire SEND Local Offer, which lets parents and young people know what special educational needs and disabilities services are available in Hertfordshire, and who can access them.

Families needing SEND support can also find advice about the HertsCard for discounts in the County, Short Breaks to give families some respite, as well as courses and events.

There is also guidance on support with education. This includes the education support your child is entitled to, types of education, and how to access learning if your child can't get into school.

This is where you will also find information about Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCP) - if SEN support isn't enough then an EHCP might be the next step.

There is also support for early years (0-5 years) including health visitors, family centres and childcare providers, along with services for young people (0-25 years) from doctors and dentists to more specialist support for complex needs.

In this area, you will also find helpful information about children in care, care leavers, fostering and adoption.

Beyond that, you can find advice in preparing for adulthood, a range of contacts and advice lines.
